I have over 20 years experience as a math tutor.

DMA/my approach to teaching math is not to teach. I organize our lessons for students to teach themselves/study. I allow the student to tell what they know about the topic, what they have learned. I make sure the students know the vocabulary revolving around the concept and what the terminology means. When we speak on the concept, we use the correct language of the topic. This vocabulary is written into a math journal which the student will use in each session for notes and other activities. We then proceed to learn more on the subject using many resources, ranging from video to online (activities and games). Then the practice ensues. I encourage the students to talk through the steps while they are doing the initial practices, leading to solving problems independently. Practice work will also be available in Google Classroom for additional practice. If needed, we will continue to practice on a topic in subsequent sessions.

Divine Minds Academy offers an online assessment that will provide us with a report on your student’s strengths and challenges. Assessment can also be made from examination of student work from class assignments and conversations with parent(s).

Divine Minds Academy keeps a brief, ongoing log of each session. (Is there an app for this?)

Divine Minds Academy will meet once a month for a fifteen-minute session to update parent(s) on student progress and for parental feedback.

Online Tutoring Rates Half hour a week for the month = $ 220 1 hour a week for the month = $412 1.5 hour a week for the month = $522 2 hours a week for the month = $650 The monthly rates include the chosen number of 1 on 1 online sessions and up to 2 hr. planning time for your student. In addition, parent (s) and student will have access to Google Classroom for supplemental resources and practice work. Divine Minds Academy also will recommend the use of certain apps for student practice. Consistency in using these resources will assure your student’s success.
